In response to the growing demand for glass classes, we have moved and expanded the glass studio, providing a well-ventilated, well-lit work area. Glass art classes provide beginning to advanced students expert instruction in a fun, creative environment. Information regarding safety precautions, set-up of your work area, torch set-up, annealing procedure, and temperature settings is provided to new students as they are introduced to glass bead making by instructors whose passion is glass. Experienced and advanced students will find this to be the perfect setting for improving techniques and experimenting with new ideas while discussing challenges and exploring resolutions

GLASS BEAD MAKING CLASSES: Explore the exciting world of bead making as you learn how glass rods are melted and shaped to form one-of-a-kind creations that can become part of your beautiful jewelry designs or incorporated into embellishments for books, bookmarks, wire-wrapped pieces, and whatever you imagine. Through demonstrations, hands-on instruction, and brief lectures on the properties of hot glass, equipment, and techniques, you'll quickly start creating artistic lampwork beads. Learn the finer points of making a basic bead, with puckered ends, and learn how important gravity and heat control are when making beads. Other topics will be pulling stringers and glass canes, feathering, creating various shapes, and using dots decoratively. With a focus on design elements and the development of the your technical skills, you will learn to make beautiful glass beads while gaining an appreciation for this ancient/contemporary art form. Supply fees, tools, and equipment will be discussed at the time of registration.

LAMPWORKED MARBLES: Come for a fun-filled series of workshops aimed at
creating marvelous marbles. You will experience the processes involved in creating
soft glass (104 COE) art glass marbles. This course involves plenty of
practice/play time and covers various decorative techniques such as dots, stripes,
raking, ribbons, pulling stringers, and encasement. You will learn the basic
techniques involved in gathering, shaping and finishing marbles. In addition,
topics such a shop safety/setup, equipment and tools used, etc. will be covered.
Class level is beginning/intermediate, and is appropriate for those new to making
marbles, or for those who have already learned the basics. Lampworking
experience is helpful but not required. Please bring a pair of Didymium safety
glasses if possible (a limited number available for use from the instructor).

FUSED GLASS CLASS: In this introduction to glass fusing, you will become familiar with tools and equipment and learn how to cut and prepare glass. Frit and dichroic glass will be used, and you will learn some creative ways to complete finished pieces. Basic design, firing, and polishing techniques will be taught. Learn how to design and complete several small fused glass pieces for jewelry or decorative elements for the home.

STAINED GLASS CLASS: Learn the basics of stained glass, including cutting, copper foiling, and soldering, while developing your technical skills working with glass. Each student will complete a small panel in this workshop. Tools will be supplied for your use during the first class, and the supply fee, payable to the instructor, includes glass, foil and solder.
